YouTube Lifts Restrictions on Donald Trump’s Channel After 2-Year Suspension

YouTube on Friday mentioned it has restored former US President Donald Trump’s channel, following a two-year suspension over issues he may incite extra violence after the lethal Jan. 6 Capitol Hill riot in 2021. 

In a tweet on Friday, the Google-owned video website mentioned Trump’s account is not restricted and is ready to add new content material. 

In 2021, YouTube banned Trump from posting movies to his channel and disabled feedback on the channel. On the time, YouTube mentioned it could contemplate lifting the suspension as soon as the danger of violence decreased. 

“We rigorously evaluated the continued danger of real-world violence, whereas balancing the prospect for voters to listen to equally from main nationwide candidates within the run as much as an election,” Leslie Miller, vp of YouTube public coverage, mentioned in a Friday assertion about lifting the ban.

YouTube’s determination comes after Fb and Instagram, each owned by Meta, lifted restrictions on the previous president’s accounts earlier this 12 months. Elon Musk reversed Trump’s everlasting ban from Twitter in November.
